well we’ve been back for a few weeks now and between our ride back an these past few weeks i’ve had time to think, an ponder bout our experiences in sturgis. where do i begin? as many of you stated or assumed prior to our departure this was sure to be an adventure as always with bromates! from suicidal deer, kamikaze birds, topless titties, way too much sausage, awesome music, sick bikes, and of course the alcohol! to say sturgis was an adventure would be an understatement, but as i said we all knew it would be. the details were the surprises, atleast to me an LB.

the suicidal deer, and kamikaze bird were easily enough to end our adventure, but bromates laughed , joked, toasted life, and spare parts, and treked on.

the topless titties were the roll up kind, so allthough dissapointed we still joined in on the bead throwing an picture taking. because we all know if you’ve seen one titty………you uhhhhh wannna see the rest of emm.

as for the sausage well i don’t think i’ve seen such an overwhelming guy to girl ratio since my last star trek convention. so needless to say i wont be back next year, but i knew that from the beginning. and now i can say i’ve been there done that.

awww the music! definitly one of my highlights! we seen a band called “reverend peyton’s big damn band” at the full throttle saloon. not everyones top choice of music, but me and LB rocked out kentucky style. and the energy they put into it was unbelievable, would be awesome to see them at a backwoods bbq!;-) we had tickets for aerosmith, but oppted to cut our losses. we’d been there a week and as it turns out that’s exactly one day too long for DTM!

the bikes had to be my other highlight. we seen every shape size and color of bike imaginable, i was hoping to see every shape size and color of girl, but hey you cant always have it all!;-) i got lots of ideas for my custom project on my bike which as it turns out starts this winter thanks to mother nature!

so the alcohol……..hmmmmm! i’m reminded of carlos mencias first comedy central’s standup. he ends his routine with a less than comedic statement about life and how we humans take advantage of everday life and just assume that tomorrow will be there to say sorry, do better, right a wrong, etc etc. most of you reading this are use to some crazy over the top story courtesy of DTM’S anticts. unfortunately i’m going to leave you with something else, i hope you all will read on anyways and take a moment to think bout what it is i’m saying. i was fortunate enough to spend my last night in sturgis at the meade county inn bed and breakfest(aka meade county jail) i got pulled over for my brake light being out due to the deer misshap. i wasn’t doing anything wrong, but i had definitly been drinking. and as we all know DTM knows how to do that, and over the years i’ve become quite the drunk driving pro!;-( i said fortunate in all seriousness, this however is the problem that i am faced with in my life. i have created a life where it is ok to push the limits of right and wrong, life and death. for what ever reason i have been extremely fortunate in that i’ve never injured anyone, or myself seriously.

buttttttttt………..have i hurt anyone from the way i’ve chose to live my life? that’s the question i asked myself a million times on my 12 hour trip home. that and why am i still alive after all the stupid choices i’ve made? in the majority of my past brushes with the law or death, i usually laughed at how close i came only to come out unharmed an unchanged! 3 days after my first dui back in 2001 i got pulled over again drunk driving. as with all my life tho i knew the officer he slapped me on the head and told me to get home! i’m not sure if everyone is familiar with washington state laws on dui’s. your second dui is a manitory 90 days in jail!;-( minutes later after the officer let me go i was drinkin at curley’s tavern!;-( unharmed and unchanged! can anyone reading this think of the last time they changed something they do or say that has the potential to hurt someone, before it hurt someone?

i personnally can’t think of ever changing something i do until i suffer some sort of negative reprocution for what it is i was doing. so now to answer the question, have i hurt anyone from the way i’ve chose to live my life? most definitly! many indirectly, and many directly! the reprocutions are bad now, but could be much worse. i have not only shown LB, TC, LIL J, JOSH, and THE BOY, along with countless neices an nephews ,that it is ok to drink and drive over the years i’ve shown them it’s cool!;-( for this i will always be sorry! that is simply a sentence, i will follow that sentence with actions and would invite all of you to do the same. i made a pinky promis to my boy that i would never drink and drive again. sometimes in life i forget to take a minute or two to look at the big picture of life. i hate to say it, but “what if one of my nephews hurts someone else or themselves because of something i taught them was cool?” i’m sure you all know i could not live with this on my contscence. life is a gift, a gift i have often taken advantage of. before i had my boy i never realized how selfish i was with life.

we are not gauranteed anything in life certainly not tomorrow. i’ve been quoted saying i’m not perfect, but i’m the best DTM i can be! well that is still true, thankfully everyday i’m better than the day before. i love everyone of you and hope that if you get one thing from this it is………….hmmmmmm i don’t know i guess to cherish not only your life but the lives of the people you love! - DTM

Last week at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, DTM took video of the motorcycle burnout contest at the Full Throttle Saloon… It was pretty sweet. The Harley rider smoked the sh*t out of his tire, which caused a blowout! Crowd went wild.

Apparently, a road trip isn’t compete without some sort of animal carcass hitting your bike… and now it’s complete. Complete in the fact that I almost lost my life yesterday.

It was cold out. It was raining. The clouds were dark, low and we seemed to be fighting to get through these beasts. It was all to eerie and little did I know what was about to happen next.

Out of no where comes a kamikaze heathen… a gigantic winged animal, which for it’s size, could have been mistaken for a pterodactyl swooping in to take it’s prey. The prey being me, the poor, unsuspecting, law-abiding citizen minding his own business.

When I saw it, I was terrified. Horrific memories of my brother’s previous encounter with the killer deer raced through my head. Flashing before my eyes as if Stephen King was directing another one of his horror films or writing another murderous plot. I started to shake.

I had to assess the situation and act quickly if I wanted to miss the blood-drenched talons of this beady-eyed monster whom looked as if he hadn’t had a meal in two weeks.

I dropped my shoulder and jerked the bike to the right.

He followed.

I then jerked my bike to the left.

He followed again.

Unable to evade the monster, I remember what bromate had said about his previous encounter: “When I knew there was no going around, I sped up and took the creature head-on.”

Naturally, instincts kicked in. I dropped a gear, ripped the throttle down and aimed directly into the belly of the beast. If I was going down, he was coming with me.

As he got closer, I realized he was about the size of a deck of cards and luckily he swooped too low, bounced off DTM’s head, hit the ground, kicked up and hit my foot, which lodged the tweety bird into my engine. I survived to tell another tall tale.

“hey everyone, well you all know me never a dull moment lol! i’m pretty much well over the excitement of deer hunting with my bike, of course i didn’t have the front row seats that LB had he might never be the same lol. anyhow all is well it rained cats an dogs on us this morning after i got my bike some what put back together, but didn’t rain any deer so that was good. we spent the day on I90 thru montana some really beautiful riding. everywhere we stopped my bike seemed to envoke some sort of conversation the leading smartass remark is “did we make steaks out of bambi?” i liked my comment to LB the best when he told me he’d get a room last night i said “good that way i can wash the sh%t off both sides of my pants!” so the question is what next?……….;-)

hmmmmmm who knows, but you can rest assured what ever it is i’m gonna enjoy every minute of it! i’ll leave you all with my favorite part of my day……..as me n LB were coming into Wyoming tonight down I90 with the clouds all around us a clearing opened up an the sun came peaking thru creating the brightest whole rainbow me n LB have ever seen truely a sight that has to be seen to fully be appreciated……we pulled off n just sat there staring no words……….later LB said kinda weird how just as we enter Wyoming all that beauty came thru………must of been somebody saying hi;-)………life is what you make of it, it is up to you what you believe an what you believe in! i love my life an can’t wait till tomorrow.;-) ps daddy misses you jaydaniel!”

Well, John might use the tagline “you can’t stop a Deere,” but DTM and I beg to differ. In fact, I witnessed it. Moreover, DTM experienced it firsthand.

After a B-E-A-utiful drive East on HWY 12 through Washington and Idaho, which is memory lane for DTM because he used to work for a logging company in the area, we were just coming down into Lowell, ID when all of a sudden… BOOM!

Apparently, deers like to jump into the light. Instead of standing still like an innocent little Bambi on the side… Bambi decided that the light was a tractor beam and he followed it directly into the front left side of DTM’s Harley.

Unfortunately, Bambi is no longer with us. But fortunately, DTM is alive and well, albeit minus a few bike parts and with a slightly tweaked foot. But like one person said when they saw the aftermath:

“You can replace parts, but you can’t replace a bromate.”

Luckily, all is well that ends well so my cheers to him over a brewski at Applebees was “Welp, here’s to being alive.” And he replied “Heres to parts!”
